This intermediate/advanced clinic is for riders interested in riding Black Mountain trail in Pisgah National Forest more skillfully and efficiently thus with more longevity and having more fun! Do you want to learn to take the technical lines with skill and finesse so you don’t waste so much energy and don’t have to walk or go around the technical features up and down the trail? Do you want to spend a day in The Pisgah sessioning this awesome trail with other like minded and similarly skilled riders? We’ll start by doing a bike check and setting up suspension, learning/reviewing a pedaling wheel lift at the bottom of Black Mountain Trail as well as stability and balance to climb more efficiently. We’ll climb all the way to Turkey Pen trail, learn how to descend with more stability and balance then turn around and descend back down the trail. At some point we’ll learn a standing front wheel lift and how and where to apply it to the trail when descending to become more playful adaptable riders. We’ll also work on advanced braking and safely rolling down and through technical features at different speeds. During the entirety of the course we’ll work on terrain awareness and I always sprinkle in necessary Leave No Trace ethics in order to preserve the longevity of our trail systems. This is the first in a larger series of clinics and will qualify as a pre-requisite for the August 3 Laurel Mountain->Pilot Rock skill clinic day and August 17 Black Mountain->Turkey Pen skill clinic day. The maximum number of riders for this clinic will be 4 folx so you will get the benefit of small group instruction. Transfer/cancellation fee of $75.00 will be necessary if riders need to cancel or transfer their registration of this clinic at any time after payment is made.
